Bob Cowley was born in 1941 in Croydon. He started an apprenticeship as a mechanic and his first job in the trucking industry was in 1959 driving for Mayne Nickless in Melbourne, Victoria. He worked there a year.
He then drove Bedfords and an Austin in the farming industry. In the early sixties he started driving full time for Don Watson at Bacchus Marsh in Ford-F600s, Commers, Reos and Albions. Next he drove for four years in tippers; Fords, International and Mercedes Benz.
In 1969 he left trucking for a number of years working in earthmoving. In 1979 he started driving tankers with BJ Aherne. The trucks were Kenworths and Macks. Bob left them to drive for Knights in Kilmore. Their trucks were Inters and Bob drove for them for 16 years.
He then went to drive for Scotts Tankers where he spent another four years. Finally, Bob joined Husseys where he still drives today, (seven years so far) in gas tankers for Kleenheat. Bob is a well respected and cheery face on the highways.
