KEVAN STEINERT was born in South Australia in 1951. As a youngster Kevan spent his childhood helping out his father after school and on weekends. His father, Les Steinert, had operated a small carrying business and Kevan loved the trucks helping out with loading and unloading and in the yard with cleaning and maintenance. He knew it was the life for him.
However, after leaving school Kevan decided that the best thing to do for his future was to do an apprenticeship. He undertook work as a panel beater with WH Foster & Son and worked in that industry for several years. During this time Kevan's desire to drive a truck full time never left him. This led to Kevan starting to drive for Lochert Bros Transport in Ramco, South Australia.
After a few odd driving jobs, an opportunity presented for him to purchase a two truck operation from Bill Schwarzkoff in 1987. The purchase from Schwarzkoff was the start of KC & RJ Steinert Transport Pty Ltd and thus began a lifelong involvement in road transport. Since marrying his wife Rose in 1985 Kevan has never looked back. Together, their dedication to the industry they love and hard work they have managed to ride the ups and downs of the industry for the past three decades. Located in Paringa, SA, the business specialises in citrus and almond cartage with a variety of transport options including tippers, taut liners and flat tops.
Kevan and Rose are as passionate about their local community as they are about the industry they work in. They have served on several committees and have always been actively involved in local issues that their own operations and the wider trucking community.
Over the years Kevan has turned the small two truck operation into what it is today. His business has now grown into a 30 truck and 50 trailers operation and is responsible for carting oranges, grapes, wheat, almonds, wine and all sorts of other things out of the Riverland area. Kevan is a respected and much loved business operator in South Australia.
