Michael (Mick) Elvidge was born in 1956 and stumbled into the transport industry at 17 years of age working for Royan's Truck & Trailers, repairing smashed trucks at Granville. Looking for work closer to home, he started working for his best mate's dad, C & M Sultana who later became Camson's Transport.

Mick's duties included picking up feed, delivering chicken manure and repairing trucks. He started his driving career in a single axle 1418 Benz with a bogie tipping trailer at Sultanas, carting quarry product from various quarries to concrete plants in Sydney.

It was while he was buying his lunch from a little old shop on the Highway at Eastern Creek, Mick fell in love with the girl who made his lunch, going onto marry her. Mick and Angie have three children, Benjamin, Rebecca and Scott.

In 1980 Mick moved onto drive buses, and after five years of bus driving Mick bit the bullet and bought his own truck, 1970 butter box Acco. Unfortunately; the butter box furthered Mick's mechanical knowledge breaking down quite regularly. After 10 weeks, Mick upgraded to a 2150B Acco with a 555 Cummins. In the down turn of the economy in 1987 to 1989 Mick went to work driving a drilling rig and tippers for Doonside Paving.

In mid 1989 Mick began driving for Jeffsann. In 1996 fed up with driving truck and dogs, Mick left Jeffsann and returned to Doonside Paving.

In May 2000 Doonside Paving closed down and Mick being a man of habit went back to Jeffsann to fill in for a couple of weeks. That was 15 years ago and is part of the furniture.

Mick's list of trucks include Mack's, Benz's UD's, Volvo's and International's. Mick has also introduced a few young truckers into the industry, taking his brother in-law on day trips rather than dropping him at pre-school like he was supposed to. Then taking his son Ben at every opportunity and now his grandson Jack is always by his side.

Mick would give the shirt off his back and always tries his best!
