Graeme's story began in 1968 when he bought his first truck with what was then known as Pioneer Concrete. He was an owner driver and drove a Leyland. In 1970 Graeme sold his first truck and went to work on the Bungal Dam near Ballarat for Pioneer. He was with Pioneer Concrete from 1966 until 1972.

In 1972 Graeme left Pioneer Concrete to start his own business Eureka Concrete, which he still owns today. Graeme started the company with two partners who later left making Graeme the sole owner.

When Graeme started the company, Eureka owned two trucks. Graeme now owns 40 agitators and 3 Tipper Trucks. The first trucks Graeme owned were Load Stars, then Internationals, then Ford Louisville's, then Mercedes and purchased his first Kenworth Truck in 2007. He now owns 20 Kenworth's. Graeme's first trucks were single steers and now most of the trucks are twin steers.

When Graeme started the Company, he had 3 staff members. His Company has now grown to employing 60 people. Graeme is pleased to watch the Company flourish and grow with his 4 sons currently running the Company.

The third generation has now started with Eureka Concrete. One of Graeme's grandsons is currently doing an apprenticeship as a mechanic. Graeme has 11 Grand Children with hopes many more will join Eureka one day.

Majority of the work done by Eureka is for VicRoads, large Wind Farms, various Government works and Sovereign Hill a large tourist attraction in Ballarat. Graeme owns 3 other Concrete plants in Ballan, Beaufort, and Maryborough and a large Quarry in Amphitheatre near Avoca.

Graeme's success has taken many years of very hard work, he has extensive knowledge of the industry. Although Graeme is in his mid-70's he still goes to work most days, he still likes to know what's happening day to day.

Graeme is a very well-respected member of the Ballarat Community and is well known within the industry he's been a part of for 50 years. We hope to see him in the industry for many more years to pass on his wealth of knowledge to the next generation.

Graeme would be very humbled to be nominated for this award.
