Christopher Sexton (Chris) was born on 11 September 1959 in Jamestown, South Australia. He is married to Janet Sexton. In 1981 Chris and Janet moved to Alice Springs and Chris started driving trucks. The first truck Chris drove was a Leader for the drilling company Rockdrill.
In between 1981 and 1985 Chris worked for Alice Springs based Ascot Haulage and Co-Ord Transport carting general freight all around Central Australia. During this time he drove many types trucks including an Autocar with a 400 Cummins motor for Ascot.
In 1985 Chris commenced work with Northern Territory Fuels, the local Shell distributors where he stayed for almost twenty years. During this time he drove many trucks from the old Superliners to Mack Titans. He travelled many central Australian outback roads delivering fuel to remote communities and stations in the 80's. One memorable trip was a three day trip in September 1991. Day one was a twelve hour return trip up the Plenty Highway to Jervois Station. Day two and three seen Chris travel 530km North West of Alice Springs up the Tanami Highway to the Granites Goldmine and return to Alice Springs. In 2000, Chris had Steve (Rags) Morris travel with him to Darwin in a Mack Titan with a Gen II Cummins. In 2007 Chris started driving for Nicky Absalom, owner of A&F Transport. Whilst driving the Alice Springs to Adelaide and return trip Chris has driven a Titan Mack and a Titan Newbreed Mack. It was not unusual some weeks for Chris to travel up to 12,000kms.
In 2012 Chris fell critically ill and the family thought his driving days may well have ended but they were wrong. Today Chris still drives trucks doing local fuel deliveries for A&F Transport in a CH Mack affectionately called 'The Pup'.
Over the years Chris has driven many different types of trucks however his all-time favourite is a Mack! The saying you can take the man out of the truck but you can't take the truck out of the man fits Christopher Sexton to a tee.
