Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at ReUnion 2012.

Bob Wright Snr was born in April 1923 in Mitchell. His family moved to Pittsworth just a few years later, in 1926, where he has lived ever since.

Bob started his driving career in September 1942 during World War Two working for the Civil Construction Corps (CCC) until January 1944. In February 1944 he married the love of his life, Cora, and they went on to have three children, Bob Jnr, Jeanette and Christine. Bob drove for Brady's Transport driving Pittsworth to Brisbane and Newcastle in a Thornton Ford. In 1948 he purchased a ten year old 1938 Ford and went to work for himself carting timber which, in those days, was all loaded and unloaded by hand. He worked out of the forestry areas around Millmerran hauling into Pittsworth until 1951. During his period Bob also operated a D40 International and later a KB 5 International.

From 1951 to 1957 Bob turned the focus of his operation to grain haulage and carted linseed from the Pittsworth area to the Wallangarra railway siding. As well as the grain, he carted wool from Cunnamulla to Sydney in a petrol powered 1956 Commer. Throughout the following years Bob owned and operated many different types of trucks including a series of Commers and AECs and finally a Mercedes to cart general freight from Brisbane to Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. He called it quits on eastern seaboard linehaul in 1972.

Bob Snr then went to work for his son Bob Jnr on his Brisbane to Darwin carting general freight and mail to Darwin. Bob alternated hauling loads of anhydrous ammonia until 1979 after which he started carting ammonia only. Bob continued this run right up until his retirement in 1997. The call of the road was too strong and up until 2000 he could still be found occasionally running dog trailers from Pittsworth to Brisbane for his grandsons who also worked for Bob Jnr. Bob lost his wife Cora in 2005 and resides in Pittsworth. He is well deserving of his place in the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame.
