David Buxton was born in Mooroopna, Victoria on 11 June 1951. In 1952 Eddie and his family moved to Maffra where his trucking career began in earnest with the purchase of a 1938 Dodge. From that moment on David was involved with trucks.
David was educated at St Joseph's Primary and later at Sale Technical College. He often travelled with his father Eddie during school holidays. He left school at 15 but did not show much interest in trucks. His first full time job was with Moran and Cato Grocers. Later David joined Esso Oil Co working on an oil rig in Bass Strait where he stayed till he was married. By the age of 23 he started to take an interest in trucks again and took a job with a milk factory in Maffra delivering Big M milk products to Melbourne. It was a round trip of 250 miles.
His next job was with WL Dyers Transport in Sale where he stayed for the next nine years hauling general freight interstate and all around regional Victoria. His next employer was Bill Kavanagh of Rove Transport. This job only lasted a year due to the sudden death of Mr Kavanagh and David took a job with a cleaning company Berkley Industries, which later sold out to Cleanaway. Later David moved to Sydney to work with Chemical Cleaning Solutions as storeman doing deliveries all over Sydney with a rigid truck.
In 2002 he moved back to his birthplace, Mooroopna in Victoria and started working for John Bogdan Transport and, in 2012 he still works there. David is renowned throughout the industry for being a very loyal worker for his employers who, in return, treat him with great respect. David has a B Double licence and travels daily from Shepparton to Melbourne or Gundagai, NSW.
David has been driving for nearly 40 years. He is married with two sons and three daughters and six grandchildren all of whom are very proud of his contribution to road transport.
