Stewart Moore

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame in 2023.

Stewart James Moore was born in Manly, New South Wales in August 1963. Over his 43 years in the transport industry Stewart has collected a few nicknames: Nipper, Stewy and Old Man Rivers.

Stewart started his transport journey in 1980 and is still heavily involved to this day. Wife Carolyn, and both of Stewart’s sons, Chris and Robert are all involved in the industry, though in different fields.

Stewart started with Dairy Farmers in September 1980 at the age of 17. He started out learning how to test milk and other aspects of milk preparation and achieved a certificate to test milk and cream. Stewart then obtained his heavy vehicle licence in May 1981. This is when his passion for truck driving began. He started collecting milk from the farms around the Illawarra region. After 9 years he finished up and moved on.

Wanting to spread his wings, Stewart started with Starcic Transport driving a F12 Volvo. He would become an interstate driver, predominantly moving coils and steel between Port Kembla, Sydney and Victoria and anywhere in between. Just like all interstate drivers, he has seen many things on the road – some good and others not so good – and has also seen the routes change; from travelling through little towns like Tarcutta, to bypassing them all.

In 1989, Stewart found his forever job with the company known today as Park Pty Ltd. Stewart would become part of the furniture in a small family owned business operated by Les, Brenda and their sons Brett and Nicolas Fletcher, located in Albion Park Rail, NSW. This is where he gained the nickname Nipper. Stewart started as a driver in his cab-over Kenworth and quite quickly worked his way into management becoming involved in the whole operation of fuel distribution as we know it today.

There isn’t a job he hasn’t completed with this company. Stewart was involved in the successful push that saw this company be the first to introduce Ethanol into the Australian fuel market. Stewart’s knowledge of the fuel industry is second to none and has helped this business grow from a small business to a national distributor in the fuel industry.

Stewart has made many lifelong friends and close business relationships through his trucking journey and hopes to continue working on for a little longer before retiring.
