Shane Blakeborough
Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at ReUnion 2014.
Shane Blakeborough's father Malcom was a truck driver and it was natural Shane would follow suit. At 16 Shane joined a crane hire company and by 22 he had an old D series Ford and went into business for himself. He has been in transport ever since. By the 1980s he was operating several truck mounted cranes in Geelong. They were the first in the area and business boomed. The versatility of the crane units meant they were able to service anything from handyman jobs to heavy construction needs.
In 2003 Shane and his wife Debra established their Journey Management Group, a quality Registered Training Organisation (RTO) delivering training to Road Transport, Logistics, and Civil Construction. Journey Management has gone on to become one of the largest privately owned truck training facilities in Australia.
With Journey Management going from strength to strength Shane then decided to follow his grass roots and go back into transport and logistics and bought out ANR transport, which was a family owned Geelong based company. Taking on ANR's three trucks, Nev, with over 30 years of industry knowledge, took over the roll of General Manager and Shane Blakeborough Logistics was born. He added Shane Blakeborough Logistics (SBL) in 2012 followed by Transtex Limited in 2014.
Thirty years on Shane's vision now includes purpose built Skill Centres at Geelong, Laverton, Ballarat, Hamilton, Warrnambool and Portland all of which are are accredited with Vic Roads. The establishment of SBL Logistics Park provides the main truck hub, maintenance, servicing and warehousing centre for both Shane Blakeborough Logistics and Transtex. Today Shane operates a fleet of over fifty trucks.
Good looking trucks have always been a must for Shane and his drivers and the truck fleet is modern, up to date and eye catching. A few classic vehicles have recently been added for interest and the odd truck show.
