Reg Brown

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame in 2016.

Reginald Brown was born in June 1956 in Mundubbera. His parents, Burnie and Jan, had already started their first trucking business 'Burnie Brown's Sand and Gravel'. As the business expanded truck operations included livestock, fruit and general cartage. Reg loved the trucks from early age, never missing any opportunity to go for a ride in one of the Bedfords, Fords, Dodges, Leylands or Albions in the family fleet.

Reg recalls, while learning to drive the Albion in the lucerne patch at ten years of age, being scolded if he ran over any bales of hay. He also remembers the local policeman catching him driving a 160 Cummins at thirteen years of age. During high school years it was not unusual for the classmate next to him to have to nudge Reg during class to make sure he was awake, as he had spent the previous night driving.

At the age of 17 Reg was given a prime mover and widespread bogey trailer and told to head off down the highway to Sydney.He later drove an International Transtar, but his pride and joy was his PURPLE Kenworth. He remembers showing Jeanette that it was easy to park at the local pizza hut, even if it did create a bit of attention when leaving.

Reg later relocated to Gayndah as 'Brown's Citrus Transport P/L' freighting citrus interstate. Reg hung up his keys taking a larger role in the operational side of the business.

Reg's mother worked with him in the family business until she was tragically taken by breast cancer in 1992. His father Burnie had worked with him until 2002, before passing away in 2012. Reg says his parents taught all their children good values, honesty and hard working ethics.

The company currently consists of 20 trucks, 4 body trucks and over 30 refrigerated vans. Reg is very proud of what he has achieved in the last 14 years. He has a good team of employees, some of them having worked for him for up to 30 years.
