Peter Dunn

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame in 2018.

Peter Dunn has been a member of the Bus and Coach Association (BCA) for 37 Years. He served as president for five years from 1989 to 1994 and again in 2002 for two years. He has also served as Vice President at various times totalling 17 years in all. Peter was instrumental in forming of sub committees and later the regional committees which are now a vital part of the BCA.

Peter has been the School Bus Sub Committee Chairman continuously since 1978. Over 35 years of struggle by this subcommittee, saw a successful outcome for contractors with better contracts and the ability to negotiate for BCA school bus contractors.

Peter have also served over the years on the Bus Industry Advisory Panel (BIPA) since 1980 until it was disbanded, Management and Maintenance Conference Subcommittee from 1980 until 2000 being chairman of that committee for some 15 or more years, member of the Passenger Transport Committee.

In 2000 Peter worked for Bus 2000, a company set up by the Bus and Coach Assoc. (NSW), at both the Olympics and the Para-Olympics for a period of about five months. His role was managerial in that he, along with a team of up to 50 people commissioned and decommissioned buses and coaches for the 2000 games passenger transport system.

In 2007 at the BIC National Conference in Perth Peter was a nominee for the Bus Industry Council Outstanding Industry Contribution Award and just a year later, in 2008, He was awarded the industry excellence award at our own state conference.

In 2015, when he turned 68, Peter and his wife Shirley decided to take things a little easier. They sold their business to local opposition, Yorke Peninsula Coaches of Kadina.

For nearly 40 years and three months Peter and Shirley operated their buses. Peter says he personally enjoyed each and every day that he went to work on the buses. Today the couple still do an occasional job and enjoy participating in various truck runs in their vintage vehicles around South Australia. REUNION 2018
