Peter Folwell

Peter Folwell has dedicated all of his working life to Road Transport. In 1970 he started at age 14 as an off-sider for a removalist business G Hannan & Sons and at age 17 obtained his licence. Pedro worked as an Interstate truck driver for companies such as Clarkes Refrigerated Transport, Selwood Interstate Transport, Mires Transport, Bruce Panucci and Alf Marsden just to name a few.

In 1986 he purchased an International 3070 and a couple of second hand refrigerated trailers with which he established a business providing express transport for local dairy and produce farmers. Primo Haulage was born. He also towed trailers for Bruce McDonald later on. He still says to this day that he would have done it all for no pay as he loved the industry that much.

In 1993 Pedro was asked to run MBS Express. As well as continuing with Primo Haulage he used this time in his life to gain all the knowledge that he believed necessary to run a successful Road Transport business.

After having open heart surgery in 2002 he left MBS Express and took the risk to grow his own business and capitalise on the opportunities that a growing transport industry presented. 30 years later and Primo Haulage is still going strong.

Over the journey he has purchased over 70 Prime Movers, 100 Refrigerated Trailers and Dry Freight Tautliners and employed over 150 drivers. He loves his Kenworth K200's and Maxitrans Refrigerated Trailer's. He has dedicated his entire 47 year working life to Road Transport and this will always be a number 1 priority.

He has had numerous articles written about himself by Maxitrans, Kenworth's, Cummins and Western Star. Pedro believes that Road Transport is not an easy life and there are many sacrifices along the way that have to be made but with hard work, dedication and surrounded by a strong team anything is possible.

Then, and still now, Pedro's pragmatic approach to business has been the foundation of his success. Strong relationships with his clients, staff and suppliers are a must. Pedro has never been afraid to make a tough call. Pedro gives high praise for his drivers and believes employees are the face of business.
