Eric Godsell

Eric began his journey into the Transport Industry through Cuff Griffiths Transport carting wool and Freight across the country. With the unforgiving roads and Trucks that only the hard hearted could bare back in those good ole days!

He then went onto work for Clarry Hansens Transport Carting Cattle, based in Quilpie he remained here for many years where he was to meet and marry his sweetheart Denise and have three(3) Children, Edward, Steven and Lisa.

After a couple of moves from Hansens Brothers run by Jeff and Max ( Clarry's Sons), Eric's urge to purchase his own truck became reality when he moved to Charleville in 1978 and bought out Teddy Pharlane transport, a livestock transporter, and purchased his first truck, a Single Drive Isuzu and two(2) single stock crates to run under the banner of Eric Godsell Transport

Augathella would be his last base in the transport Industry. On completion of the roadworks between Morven and Augathella , Eric would purchase the Creedon's Mail Run ( Which came with a 1418 Benz), and secure a base where 90% of his clientele were serviced already.

Eric would witness many changes over his 30 + years within the Industry, from Single to Double Decker crates, truck horsepower from 100 600hp, road improvements, and the changes in transport regulations.

In 1995, Eric would sell the business to his Son Steven, (and the legacy continues to this day) and venture out of the transport industry, with his final achievement being the purchase of the Heidsville Pub with wife Denise.

This would be Eric's final resting place, where he was diagnosed with throat cancer, and passed away at the young age of 66.

Eric was known to be a hard but fair man in business, and in family life. He was an unpredictable character, who liked to pave his own path, therefore was not easily bullied into majority beliefs or ways.
