Andy & Andrea Hill

ANDREW (Andy) and ANDREA HILL relocated to Alice Springs from country Victoria in 2004, with two young sons Aaron and Jaycob. They met in March 1989 and were married in November 1995. Andy began driving trucks in the Northern Territory as a teenager. He ran away from his home in country Victoria in 1980 at the age of 16 and ended up in the NT working on cattle stations and stock camps and cutting and baling hay on the Burt Plain. This was his introduction to trucking. At 17 Andy received his MC License, under "questionable"testing conditions, from the local police at Harts Range.

After moving back to Victoria in late 1988, Andy began work with Hoffmanns Transport in North Melbourne behind the wheel of a 1978 Mercedes Benz 2224, working mostly off the wharf and rail. After a couple of years, he upgraded to a 1986 Mercedes Benz 2233 operating one of their fleet of sideloaders. Andy later went on to operate sideloaders behind a 1987 Western Star 4864 for K&S Freighters. In May 2004, after a stint at interstate driving, Andy and Andrea "fell on tough times" and decided to take their young family to Alice Springs to start again. With no home or job, they began to rebuild their lives. After recognising the need for a sidelifter for container handling in Central Australia - Central Australian Sidelifter Haulage (C.A.S.H.) was born, and Andy and Andrea invested in a 1997 Western Star 4964FX and Central Australia's first sidelifter, a steelbro Mk6, and they launched the business at the Alice Springs Show in July 2005.

The company has now expanded and now runs two road train rated Western Star prime movers the original 4964FX and a 2011 4900FXT, and two custom spec. road train Steelbro Sidelifters - a SB360 and an SB450. In addition to the sidelifters, C.A.S.H. also run skels, refrigerated pantech's to local outback community stores, general freight on flat-tops and dropdecks, and they recently launched Spinifex Container Solutions; a container sales and modification division. Andy and Andrea work alongside each other as a strong and resilient team to build and expand their company, to cater for the ever-changing needs of Central Australia, its industry and community.
