Trevor(Old Dusty) Herrmann

Trevor James Herrmann, better known as ‘Old Dusty’, was born in Boonah, Queensland in December, 1949. He grew up around trucks as his father, Harold ‘Stumpy’ Herrmann had four trucks of his own which were used to cart produce into the railway line at Kalbar, Queensland.

At the age of ten, Trevor helped load potatoes for Terry Ward Produce. Each Monday morning at school Trevor’s teacher always asked, “How many loads of spuds did you do on the weekend?”.

Trevor began driving at night for Fassifern Produce at the age of 17. He started out in a Commer and since then has driven many makes and models of trucks including ACCO, Mack,  Scania, Mercedes, Sterling, HM80 Ford, Freightliner, Volvo and Kenworth.

Throughout his career, Trevor has worked in Queensland and currently drives for Wickham Freight Lines in Warwick. He drives a Kenworth T610 SAR which was the 60,000th truck built by Kenworth at their Bayswater plant.  Trevor says it is the best truck he has ever driven, carting mostly hanging meat.

Trevor has a humble nature and would do anything to get the job done. Over the years, there have been highs and lows in his trucking career but in his own words, he “would do it all again.” Trevor is especially grateful for the support, over 45 years, from his wife, Coleen.

Trevor has passed on his insights into and knowledge of the transport industry to many  including his children Michael, Damien and Brenton. Brenton is following in his father’s footsteps, taking up a career in driving. Brenton also works for Wickham Freight Lines with over 15 years of service so far.
