Max Hutchins

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2014.

Max Hutchins started out in the road transport industry as a young man of 18 years and is now approaching 55 years of truck driving for a living. During this time Max has had 20 years as an owner driver, three years with Peach's Transport , five years at Kain & Shelton Contractors, seven years at Deans, ten years at Lindsay Brothers Transport, eight years at MAS-Trans and has been driving for AdBlue Transport for just one year.

Over the years Max has worked in just about every sector of industry including carrying livestock, operating tippers and hauling general and refrigerated freight. These days he carries bulk AdBlue produced by AUSblue delivering AdBlue through Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and the state of Victoria on a progressive delivery system to their numerous customers throughout the four states. Max refills his AdBlue tanks at one of seven dedicated AUSblue Bulk Refilling Hubs.

As a man who is proud of his family, Max has lead by example. Four of his sons drive trucks: Stevie 53, Gary 50, Mark 46 and Paul 40. His youngest daughter Gemma also spent in excess of three years in the truck with him from when she was 15 months old until it was time for her to commence school. Max also has a grandson who has also been driving for six years. For Max driving trucks has been a life-long commitment.

Driving trucks is more of a hobby than a job. There has been good times and bad times on the road and I have lost a few mates along the way.

Further testimony to Max's commitment to the road transport industry is that he has now become a director in the Victorian Chapter for the National Road Freighters Association (NRFA), an organisation fighting to get some sense back in the job.

It's a hard job to explain, it's a job that you have got to have a love for. It's pretty tough on family life.
