Phyliss Jones

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunions 2005.

Phyllis began working in the trucking industry after marrying Neville Jones in 1964. She left behind a successful career as a flight attendant, and despite knowing very little about the transport industry; she quickly earned her heavy vehicle licence and became a regular driver, driving livestock and tippers for the family business, whilst at the same time raising a young family of four.
Phyllis can still be seen driving if one of her drivers is off sick. Phyllis is treasurer of the Livestock Transporters Association of NSW and a member of NatRoad and the Roadtrain Association. She is also a former board member of Transport Women Australia Ltd.  All these activities are a sign of her commitment and dedication to the trucking industry. As an active member of these associations, Phyllis has been an integral force with her consistent efforts raising the professionalism and stature of the trucking industry.  She represents the type of woman the Australian trucking industry needs to ensure its continuing improvement.Phyllis has won many accolades over the years for her outstanding contribution to the industry she loves so much. The awards Phyllis has won include The 2001 National Road Transport Woman of the Year, The Annual Rotary Club of Hay Award for Good Service, the 2000 inaugural Rotary International Club Businesswoman of the Year and the NatRoad Quiet Achiever award in 2003.Phyllis' other community interests include her long-time membership of the Pilot's Wing of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the Fred Hollows Foundation, The Royal Children's Hospital and the Australian Teenage Cancer Patient's Society. Despite running her family business and sitting on numerous trucking committees and associations, remarkably, Phyllis has always maintained a close association with a variety of local organizations in her own community of Hay, in NSW.
