Jeffery (Jeff) Douglas Lowe was born in Bellingen in 1960 and spent his childhood around trucks. He learnt to drive as soon as his legs could reach the pedals.
In 1974, while still at school, Jeff began driving for his father Vic who worked as a contractor in the sapphire mines in the Inverell area. When he reached the age of 17 Jeff obtained his Class 3 licence and began carting grain in a J5 Bedford. By the time he was 21 Jeff had a Class 5 licence and was carting grain and general freight interstate for various employers. He eventually purchased a Ford LNT 9000 and became an owner driver. Since his early introduction into trucks Jeff has shown great passion for the trucking industry and for trucks in general. He is renowned for his pride and expertise in the upkeep and appearance of any truck in his care, regardless of ownership. Jeff's mechanical knowledge and ability to improvise parts or modifications to suit a particular job has been a huge benefit in reducing downtime and cost.Jeff and his wife Sue established their business J&S Lowe in 2001 operating three trucks and five trailers carting grain, gravel, water and general freight state wide including in the road construction and bitumen industries. Jeff is also licensed to harvest, sell and transport grass trees. In 2008 Jeff made the decision to downsize his business back to that of a sole operator. He sold his three trucks and replaced them with an FH12 Volvo and quick release body. This allows improved versatility for one truck to alternate between haul tankers and drop decks.Jeff has earned much respect from his industry colleagues over the years, both for his driving ability and for his reliability and professionalism. One of the things Jeff treasures about the industry is the many lifelong friends he has made during his trucking life.
