Craig Membrey

Craig William Membrey was born in June 1964 in Chelsea Victoria. As a young boy Craig was always fascinated with trucks and helping out at his father's Transport Yard. Craig left school at 14, and tried his hand at a few different jobs. He was always drawn back to the transport industry so he returned to work with his dad, learning the ropes.

In 1988, Craig's father, Jack, suffered a stroke and Craig stepped in to help run the business. At this time there were only five trucks that ran Melbourne to Gippsland. Craig diversified and expanded the business. This began with the purchase of semi-trailers, his first new prime mover being a Kenworth T900in 1995. He then began the crane division with the purchase of a 16 ton Franna in 1995.

Craig worked on increasing the transport fleet to include tray trucks, crane trucks, prime movers, flat tops, step decks, extendable trailers, and specialised trailers. This enabled him to move into machinery movement, over dimensional and heavy haulage. He quickly developed the motto of Anything, Anywhere, Anytime and was able to offer a one stop service for customers with both cranage and transport needs. Craig will arrange to transport anything from zoo animals to general freight. Over recent years, he has continued to develop the transport division with the purchase of platform trailers, a super tilt and a maximum weight carrying vessel trailer.

Craig has had four children and was hoping to have his eldest son Rowan join him in the running of Membrey's Transport & Crane Hire, but unfortunately he lost Rowan tragically in 2011 at the age of 17. This caused Craig to change some of his focus and resulted in him becoming an Ambassador for beyond blue. They are an organisation he holds close to his heart and dedicates a lot of time to. This loss also prompted Craig to do up a truck dedicated to the memory of Rowan.

Craig takes a lot of pride in his fleet, that is why you will see his trucks at many a truck show and they cannot be missed travelling around on our roads in Victoria and all over the country. He also prides himself on having the most versatile transport and crane hire business in Victoria.

Craig is an energetic person with a MAKE IT HAPPEN attitude and he will continue to manage, expand and diversify his business in future years until he is ready to hand it over to his children.
