Leckie Milne

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2010.

Leckie has spent the majority of his working life in the transport industry as an employee, owner-driver and employer with much job satisfaction in each area.

Leckie has made many lifelong mates and has a wealth of knowledge in transport costing and maintenance. Leckie, at 63, still enjoys the transport industry and has seen many changes over the years.

Leckie still drives at times, works in the office and works in the yard. He believes that whatever you do, you do it to the best of your ability and he applies that to his business and life. Leckie started in the transport industry in West Gippsland in 1962 at the age of 16 as a jockey with his dad who drove a Thames Trader for Harry Bullock carting timber and fencing which was hand-loaded. Leckie's first solo job was with the Drouin Butter Factory. His first trip to Sydney was in 1966 and he drove a V8AB184 petrol International carting potatoes up the old Cann Valley Highway.

In 1966 Leckie started work with Mansons Transport in Bunyip until the mid 70s. In that time Leckie drove the 2nd and 5th chassis number S model Kenworths brought into Australia. In 1976 Leckie bought his first truck, a Dodge 7 series and towed trailers for Intermodal in Morwell. He sold his truck in 1978 and had numerous jobs carting woodchips, logs and stone. Leckie bought another truck in 1986 and moved from Drouin to Shepparton where he carted packaged milk from Shepparton to Melbourne and Sydney for 16 years. In this time MMV Transports was formed. MMV Transports currently run 11 Kenworths, 2 Volvos and 13 B-double trailers doing mainly Melbourne to Brisbane to Sydney and Adelaide.
