When they moved to Melbourne, John got the transport bug while driving with his father in a Federal truck during school holidays. John reluctantly attended school but could not stay away from trucks. After various yard jobs, loading, washing and driving old trucks for 3 years, he bought his first truck at age 20. He started out with Downards Furniture Removals staying with them for 2 years, before striking out on his own doing new and commercial furniture deliveries Australia wide in a variety of Dodge and Internationals with V8 petrol and Perkins Diesel engines. He remained in this job for 30 years until 2000 when he sold up and became an agency driver doing many long and short term assignments with a variety of large and small companies including Linfox, Fridgemobile, Mayne Logistics, Toll, Finemores, Versacold and P&O Logistics with many varied loads and experiences. His time doing interstate is full of memories of some great mates, friendships and places Australia wide with a story for every trip. He couldn't travel very far before somebody would call up, copy John Boy.
