Wayne Matthews

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2008.

Wayne Matthews started working at the age of 14 with his father.  He was working with trucks at MG Pentreath Pty Ltd.  The only problem for Wayne was waiting till he turned 18 to get his licence.
He worked loading and unloading bags of cement by hand as that is how everything was done in those days, no forklifts.  He also worked around the yard washing trucks that were being repaired.  At last the day arrived and he got his licence.  That's when the driving bug really hit and now he has been driving for 45 years.
Wayne worked for Kelly's Transport.  Many years and many jobs later, Wayne went to work for Keltrans Transport, which is owned by Ian Kelly, son of Alan Kelly, so he went full-circle working for father then son.  He proved himself to be a very loyal employee during this time and made many mates along the road.
Wayne would come home and tell of his many adventures along the highways and roads of our great country.  Whenever the kids needed to find a street or road they would ask their dad.  He knew as his mind was like a Melways.  He then did a stint working for V&A Liangos driving both local and interstate pending on the job at hand.  He was known as a bloke that never complained and just got on with the job the best he could.  Wayne always enjoyed his time on the road and made many good mates along the way.  Wayne is very deserving of his place on the Wall of Fame.
