Graham Michelmore
Graham Michelmore (also known Beeper)
Has been driving trucks since the age of 16. At the time, he lived in Surry Hills, NSW.
His first job was driving a ute in Adelaide for 3 weeks. He then moved back to NSW where he worked for Anglo Canvas at Sydenham for approx. 18 -24 months doing deliveries and pickups.
He then obtained his Class 3 license. He was employed with T.S Green driving a truck and doing general freight and chemicals for I.C.I for 2-3 years.
He then updated to a Class 5 truck license. He then purchased a CK40 UD truck and owned his own business. Worked through W.J George doing interstate work pulling their trailers containing general freight. Moved house and business to Northern NSW but still working for WJ George & Colliers Transport out of Evans Head, NSW in 1979-80. Due to no work being available, he sold his truck and the business.
Obtained work with Transfield Constructions 4/9/1980-27/2/1981 and was involved in the construction of the major bridge in Woodburn, NSW. He also carted cement and rio reinforcement material from Brisbane to Woodburn.
Beginning of 1981 the family moved back to Western Suburbs of NSW and worked for Jack Seaton Transport carrying concrete and building materials for about 18 months.
Commenced working for R.S Williams Transport at Lansvale driving to North Qld and Interstate from 20/7/1981-30/6/1982.
On the 9/9/81 he sustained a head injury and was unable to drive heavy trucks once injury occurred and in the recovery period.
In 1985 Beeper worked for BMG resources at Prospect NSW driving quarry equipment and vehicles from July 1985 to August 1987.
Employed with Academy Freight Lines doing night delivery work throughout NSW from August 1987- June 1989.
Commenced working with BOC Gases (formerly known as CIG (Commonwealth Industrial Gases) on approx. 1/7/1990 until retirement in October 2008. Where he drove compressed gas deliveries and pickups where he advanced his truck career to driving semi-trailers and B-Doubles carrying dangerous goods & explosives intrastate and interstate.
Now enjoying retirement and living in sunny Queensland but still at heart he's a truckie. He still admires, talks about and wants to be in the driver's seat. Keep on truckin!
