David McLachlan

David McLachlan, better know as Crocket in the Sydney metro and Illawarra areas was born in Camden in 1950. A boilermaker by trade, David had a keen interest in heavy machinery early on from growing up on a dairy farm and with a family of truck drivers; it was career destiny that he has spent a lifetime looking over the dash and down the bonnet of his beloved trucks.

David took up truck driving at the age of 21 for the Fordham family (TRN Group), a position he still holds today after 44 years of dedicated service and one that his family knows he's very much proud of. If it can be loaded into a tipper there is a good chance David has carted it for TRN Group. From interstate with potato, grains and fertilizer to metro work with coal, sand and stones his experience on the job can only be admired and respected by his peers.

David was ever present on the road carting coal during the boom periods of the Burragorang Valley and has spent the latter few years hauling quarry products as TRN Group solidified their selves in the civil construction market.

David has been solely driving Kenworths since 1984 when TRN purchased their first two W models and is currently operating a T409 SAR in a four axle semi-trailer configuration. He is a keen vintage truck enthusiast and frequents many of the classic vehicle shows having a soft spot for KM Bedford's, a truck that he once owned.

David's work ethic behind the wheel is equally matched by the attention and detail he spends outside the truck. He is known to have immaculately presented vehicles that have won a number of awards over the years, not the easiest of tasks according to him, seeing the majority of the working day is spent in and out of coal mines and quarries.

David is a credit to old school mentality and hard work and for an occupation that doesn't get as much recognition as others.
