Barry Organ

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2002.
Young Barry Organ commenced work as a spare parts interpreter with Mack Trucks Australia in Darwin on the 2nd November 1981 and soon found himself settled into the relaxed lifestyle and the strong trucking culture in Darwin.  Barry soon went on to become a Mack legend in his own right.
Barry's knowledge of the MACK product was without equal in the N.T. and he was certainly on a par with anyone else in the country.  He was renown for his unnerving knowledge of part numbers and his willingness to assist anybody in need.One of the areas that Barry gained his reputation of being an expert in his field was through helping those with little or no knowledge of spare parts.  Even in those days in the Territory there were quite a few illiterate truckies around, or women whose husbands worked long distance to Queensland or down the gruelling Old South Road.  Barry made it his business to know the make and model of their trucks.  If Mrs Smith came in and asked for a set of filters for hubby's red truck, Barry knew what parts were needed.  If one of Noel Buntine's drivers came in and said he'd done a wheel bearing in the truck called the High and Mighty,  Barry knew what to provide. Barry's quality of work meant that the Darwin Branch of Mack Trucks Australia gained an unequalled reputation for supply and reliability service.  He had an unquestionable commitment to Mack Trucks and was widely respected by staff, customers and associates alike.  Barry Organ passed away unexpectedly and suddenly in Darwin in August, 1996.
