Ron Pullen

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2003.

Ron and his wife Pauline managed and owned the truck stop at Gundagai for many years, operating 24 hours,7 days a week selling fuel, food and providing friendly service.  They were always on hand to help their customer truck drivers and became well-known in the industry as the "Trucker Box" in Gundagai.  Truckies were always their top priority.
After selling out, Ron joined the Re-Car Crane & Towing group in 1990 as manager of Re-Car Crane & Towing in Wagga.  Ron built the business into a six vehicle, eight staff operation, including a T-900 Ekebol recovery underlift - which was the first of its kind in Australia.He was also instrumental in creating the Re-Car Emergency Response Call Centre.  This was and still is, the first business of its kind in Australia.  It was the first centre that catered specifically to the needs of Australia's heavy vehicles and their on-road emergencies.  Ron was also chairman of the heavy vehicle working party committee dealing directly with the NSW Government on major issues regarding national tow truck reform and liaising with the Tow Truck Authority of NSW. In spite of the impressive businesses Ron has created for himself and the Re-Car Group, Ron says his greatest personal achievement is the National Trucks Drivers' Memorial in Tarcutta, of which Re-Car is the sole foundation sponsor.  The memorial commemorates those truck drivers who have been killed in the course of their duties.  Ron continues to play a role in this project in an unofficial capacity.  The event is held on site each year in late October.
