Bevan Rumble

With a career spanning over 45yrs, Bevan Rumble has remained steadfast and passionate about driver safety within an industry that's undergone amazing changes.

Raised in Mullewa, Bevan knew the value of trucks in rural Western Australia from a young age and gained his first commercial truck driving job in 1970 with Elder Bells, carting single bales of wool to the Fremantle Wharf and wool sheds.

After a short return to farming in Mukinbudin 1975, Bevan became Manager of the local swimming pool and spent the off season driving trucks for Ted Miller until 1979 when he bought Ted's truck, two-decker stock crate, bin and super spreader, marking the beginning of Rumble Superstock. Bevan later purchased an International S-Liner 350 and operated until 1984 when the bigger stock crates were in demand.

Carting livestock with Klopper Transport that same year, Bevan was introduced to Western Australia's north and was at home amongst the rugged and remote terrain, driving Mobile number six, a Kenworth SAR 3406 Caterpillar B-Motor 400hp. He gained the reputation as a proficient and skilled operator making the transition to Road Trains of Australia (RTA) when they bought Klopper out in 1986. It was in 1988 that RTA purchased five sister trucks; W Model Kenworths with Cat Ataac motors. One of them, number 46 had a freak motor that was legendary for its get-up and go and was unsurpassed with Bevan behind the wheel. Working with Bagshaw Transport from 1989 to 1990 and quickly moving onto Hamptons Transport he continued carting livestock throughout northern Australia until 1994.

Passionate about driver and industry safety, Bevan was elected to the Executive Committee of the Livestock Transport Association (LTA), serving from around 1988 to 1994. Actively raising awareness for the need of adequate parking bays along the Great Northern Highway was just one of the many projects he supported.

From 1995 to 2005 Bevan worked with Wellard Rural Export carting livestock and fodder however he returned to his native area of Geraldton in 2005 and began with Patience Bulk Haulage on 22 May 2005 where he still works today carting iron ore from mine to rail head in Mullewa and Perenjori.
