Alan Rasmussen

Alan Douglas Rasmussen, better known as ‘Rassy’, was born in July 1950 in Gin Gin, Queensland.  As Alan had family members involved in the transport industry it was inevitable that he would, too!  

He started his driving career behind the wheel of  an AB184 International  and then drove a 1418 Mercedes Benz, carting fertiliser and general freight. 

In 1970 Alan moved to Gladstone, Queensland and started working for VG carriers but after twelve months, he  moved on to work for Graham Allen Earthmoving driving ACCO loaders.  In 1977 he sought a change and started working for Kelly’s Transport, carting beer and steel from Brisbane to Gladstone. He then returned to Graham Allen Earthmoving in 1978 driving  semi tippers and trucks in general.  The following year, Alan started operating floats. 

In 1993 Alan met Marion Brandon who was the pilot vehicle driver for his Australia-wide trips of moving large machinery.   Marion was later to become his wife. 

Cooks Constructions bought out Graham Allen but  Alan continued to work with them until 2005. For the next two years, he drove road trains and side tippers for the Ensham Mine, near Emerald. Between 2008-2013 Alan worked for Walz Constructions in Gladstone, driving trucks and wide loads.  Since 2014 Alan has driven a truck and trailers  for Mini Excavations, based in Gladstone.
