Geoffrey Reeve

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2010.

Geoffrey Reeve was born in September, 1943 at Toora, Victoria. He is still working, driving and operating his own business at Lang Lang, Victoria.

He first got involved in trucks as his father had a livestock business carting cattle, sheep and pigs Australia wide and unloading the cattle coat at Port Welshpool that came in from Flinders Island. The first truck he drove was a 1959 Commer with a 34' semi stock crate. Then into an Inter 190, a new C160 Inter and then an imported cab-over 200 International, still carting stock.

In 1968 he went out on his own and bought a cab-over Kenworth carting interstate. He then sold that and bought tippers and worked for Castal Moulding Sand carting foundry sand for 18 years. He needed a dog trailer so he bought a slimline cab-over Kenworth. In 1980 he traded up to a new Kenworth SAR with aluminium body and dog trailer which continued his obsession with Kenworths. He added another 10 Kenworths saying they are a great truck to drive with the right specs to do the job, they look good, easy to maintain and are reliable.

Both sons, Shayne and Ashley, worked with him on interstate and local with the tippers. They travelled mainly on bitumen roads but with livestock in the early days it was a lot of dirt roads. His business is similar to his fathers giving service to the farmers by carting rock and gravel for cow tracks and milk tanker pick-up tracks, bedding sand for pipelines, soils, sand and rocks for garden supplies and construction. In 1990 he specked up a new 950 truck and the first airbag suspension dog trailer Hamelex had built. Geoffrey is president of the local football club and Rotarian for 30 years with a Paul Harris Fellow award for his work.
