Domenico Restuccia

Domenico Restuccia aka 'Mick' and 'the Wog' was born in Italy in 1949 and migrated to Australia at the age of 1. In 1971, aged 21, Mick married his young and beautiful bride Josephine. In 40 years of marriage they raised 3 children in North Ryde, Sydney and now have 3 grandsons.
His first job was with Transfield carting power poles. He later worked for S & M Fox driving a Commer for 4 years carting coal. Soon he was travelling around Australia in a Flintstone Mack for F&K Severino Heavy Haulage floating plant machinery. Mick decided it was time to have a go on his own as an owner-driver and purchased his first truck, a White and began doing tipper work around Sydney. Later he sold this and brought a 1976 cab-over Kenworth doing interstate for SPD Transport and Vaughan's Transport towing a company trailer to Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. He again sold and brought a 1978 Atkinson which he restored and did interstate for Intercentre Transport known as Arnott's (Bickie Barrels).Mick later sold his Atkinson and brought a 1980 Kenworth Aerodyne that he also restored and was towing company tankers for Neverfail Springwater. He then bought a Western Star named 'Boss Lady' and continued with Neverfail. Due to Mick's immaculate attention to detail on his trucks he once caught the eye of famous radio jock John Laws which landed him a bottle of Wild Turkey. At 52 Mick decided to work for Shaw's Darwin doing Sydney/Bourke runs but was soon doing the famous triangle on express Sydney/Perth/Darwin/Sydney runs towing 2 trailers to Perth and 3 trailers to Darwin return to Sydney.Mick has now retired. He still has a passion for the road in his blood and it wouldn't take much to get him behind the wheel again doing an interstate.
