Harold Rose

Harold (Tubby) Rose was born in Warialda on the 1stMarch 1952; the eldest son of Robert and Irene Rose. In 1978 he met the love of his life Leonie. They were married on the 9thJune 1984 and had one daughter, Leanne.

One of the 1st trucks Tubby drove was a White V8 petrol International Stock Crate for Billy Shutes.

At 18 Tubby starting his long trucking career by carting logs and cattle locally. From 1970 he has mainly been driving International and Mack trucks.

Tubby was the first driver to drive a B-Double in the Moree area. For 10 years he worked for Sandy Nash in Moree driving B-Doubles and Road Trains interstate carting general freight and grain. He also drove for Keith Haddad (4 years).

The most unusual load would have to have been the 45foot Palm trees taken from the Gold Coast, QLD to Botany Bay, NSW.

Unfortunately at the age of 44, on the 26thOctober 1996, Tubby lost his best mate, Wayne Jeffery McLauchlan in a 2 truck head on collision at DeepWater, NSW.

After 35 years he retired from interstate driving and he went into business for himself. In 2009 he became an owner / driver when he bought a 1978, 300 horse power big can Cummins Prime Mover to cart gravel locally for the Shire Council. In 2013 he expanded his business and bought a 1994 Kenworth Truck and Dog which has a N14 motor and an 18 speed road ranger gear box. In 2016 he bought a Low Loader and Excavator.

Tubby's best achievement is that he can now do all the mechanical work on his own trucks.

In his own words: 'Looking back over the years I have met some amazing people and been able to see most of our beautiful country.'

Tubby is still living in Warialda and working for himself.
