Jeffrey Spence

Jeffrey Spence was born a Dinky Di Aussie and grew up in Victoria as the second of five children. When Jeff was nine years old he spent his spare time observing the workers building roads and footpaths in his local area and the truck drivers would let him go for rides with them to tip loads of soil. As a teenager one of his first jobs was delivering milk with a horse and cart. When leaving school he began to work around circuses and carnivals and before long was driving the trucks from town to town.

His first trip to the Northern Territory when he was fifteen years old saw him fall in love with this place and the idea of travelling through it. From there he developed an interest in all heavy transport. At the age of 18 years, after obtaining his car licence, he applied to the police commissioner for a special dispensation to get a heavy articulated vehicle licence which was not usually awarded to drivers until they were 19 or 20 years of age.

Driving local, long distance and interstate for various companies followed and Jeff became an owner-driver at the early age of 22 years. His first truck was a Bedford and then he bought a Ford F1800 prime-mover and worked towing company trailers interstate. He spent 20 years with four different companies driving various trucks carrying everything from livestock to bloodstock to general freight and oversized loads.

While still driving Jeff became involved as a country music promoter and it seemed logical to purchase his own coach to transport artists around the country. He began operating safari tours in 2001 to the Red Centre and Birdsville. Jeff now owns three Denning coaches and a Mercedes Benz bus and runs a successful coach charter company in Sydney. He still operates a Kenworth SAR specializing in oversize and overmass loads Australia wide.

Jeff Spence is a very genuine, honest, down to earth person who loves his lifestyle and would always go out of his way to help anyone he can.
