Lionel Shaw

Lionel Shaw better known as Barry was born in the small town of Ardlethen, New South Wales on the 13th January 1943. His father died when he was seven and that's when he relocated to Fairfield in Sydney. After leaving school Barry travelled around Australia and abroad working in the building trade.

In 1971 Barry started the job that would become his life, a truckie. His first job was delivering new furniture for Bebafalls. In 1974 Barry went into business on his own, driving a V8 petrol Dodge. Barry Shaw Furniture Removals had begun. In 1978 he drove a single drive Atkinson running interstate.

1980 was the beginning of Nepean Removals which was family owned. Barry bought a Hino truck, changing from petrol to diesel which he thought was the best thing. He was a favourite with his children and their friends as he would take them with him for interstate trips in the school holidays.

Barry started with Linfox in 1991 delivering Woolworths groceries throughout New South Wales from Yennora in Sydney. In 1998 he was in the first group of drivers for Linfox to get their B-double licence. He drove a day cab Kenworth which was one of the first 36 pallet combinations. In 2001 he was one of the first interstate drivers for Linfox New South Wales. There was only three B-doubles in the first fleet.

Slowing down but still with Linfox, Barry delivered Smiths Chips before finishing at the Glass contract at Penrith on his 67th birthday in 2010.
