Jimmy & Yvonne Stocks

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2014.

Jimmy Stocks was born in Ararat, Victoria, in 1958 and is one of five brothers who worked in the road transport industry. It is little wonder he developed a love of trucks from a very young age. He has now had 40 years experience in the trucking industry himself.

Jimmy's first step towards the trucking industry was in the late 1970s when he got his first job driving a forklift for Fleet Express in Port Melbourne. He then went on to drive a forklifts for TNT and Brambles. When he turned 22 he landed his first trucking job with N&T Transport in South Melbourne driving a single drive, seven series Dodge carting containers and general freight locally. It was a job he loved and found he had a natural aptitude for. He bought his first truck off his older brother Bill; it was an Albion with a Leyland 400 motor and 10 speed road ranger which he used to subby for Sartori's Transport before moving on to work for Tolls in Newport and later Brooks Transport carting No Frills supermarket goods around Melbourne and occasionally Sydney.

Jimmy also drove interstate for Murphy and Sons in Yarraville. In 2004 he bought his own Freightliner to cart containers locally around Melbourne and then later interstate pulling trailers across to Adelaide for Bunkers. Jimmy also spent four years subbying for Wickham's Transport during which period he updated his old Freightliner FLC 112 to an Argosy.

With his partner of 21 years, Yvonne, Peter formed Wannabee Transport in 2004. Yvonne, whose main job is to keep on top of the bookwork and administration also has her truck licence and enjoys a drive every now and again on the back roads. Since he was three years old their son Sam has been on many trips with the couple, another Stocks truckie coming through the ranks.

Jimmy is currently sub-contracting for Scotts of Mt Gambier, cart- ing goods for Big-W in his B-Double Argosy Freightliner based out of the Melbourne depot. Yvonne, while taking it a bit easier in her retirement still supports Jimmy's driving career
