Edward White

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2010.

Edward Thomas White's love of trucks and the transport industry began at the age of 13 when he worked at the Kraft Factory cutting and carting wood.

This entailed driving the trucks back and forth from the wood yard to the boiler house. Later he was allowed to deliver butter from the factory to the train provided he used the back land as he still did not have a licence. In 1965 at the age of twenty he officially obtained his articulated licence.

Edward's life as a truck driver, and eventually as a truck and business owner, had officially begun. In 1967 Edward saw the need for someone to service the dairy farmers of the area so he purchased his first truck, a Ford five tonne tipper. It was with this purchase that he established E.T White Cartage Contractor and began deliveries to the local farmers of gravel and bagged fertilizer. Edward quickly became known to the farmers of the area. In 1972 Edward then purchased a Commer Knocker truck and semi trailer. His business then began to diversify into fertilizer, hay, grain, livestock and general cartage. In 1985 he formed Allansford Fertilizer Services running three trucks to service the growing area from Princetown in Victoria to Naracoorte in South Australia.

Along the way Edward has travelled thousands of miles maintaining a great safety record. He has owned, driven, and maintained Fords, Commer Knockers, Bedfords, Atkinsons, Kenworths, Internationals and Ivecos. Edward has helped and encouraged many young people along the way teaching them how to drive and obtain their licence. His wealth of knowledge and trucking expertise has been free to all.

Edward White has enjoyed 45 years as a truck driver. The people he has met and the many friendships he has made, will remain in his memory forever.

Edward is well-respected along the highways and roads he has travelled all his life and well-deserves this recognition.
