Kevin Williams
Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2010.
Kevin Williams has been involved in the trucking industry since his first job as a 14 year old boy driving farm trucks. Since then he has built up an impressive log haulage transport company, K.J & S.M Williams Pty Ltd, which is one of the largest in Tasmania.
Kevin is now the elder statesman in his industry. He has had a well-known love of Mack trucks but started with an AB184 V8 International after he took over the payments from his uncle.
It was in 1966 and Kevin had no job and just three dollars in his pocket at the time. He moved to MANs in 1973 and added Scanias but says the best decision he ever made in trucking was in 1983 when he moved into Mack. The current transport fleet of 13 units mainly consists of the Mack Titan S trucks. However Kevin's pride and joy continues to be his beloved 1990 V8 Mack Superliner which Kevin still drives himself today.
There have over the years been many periods of downturn in the industry and Kevin Williams has always put his workforce first. He has always been reluctant to lay off staff and has used many resourceful methods to keep men in employment through these times. Kevin has long been an active advocate for improvement of standards of bush safety and road safety. Kevin is a highly loyal and respectable member of the Tasmanian Industry and has built up a strong network. He is a formidable businessman, man of the old school whose word and handshake is as binding a contract as any.
He has been, and continues to be, a charismatic leader to the logging industry in Tasmania over many long years and well deserves a place in the Hall of Fame. Kevin has been a cornerstone of the industry through Northern Tasmania. Kevin is a wonderful bloke and his family and staff adore him
