Graham Wood
Graham (Budge) Wood was born in 1948 and grew up in Hornsby. His love of trucks was evident from a very young age, his parents would often find him beside the Pacific Highway watching the truck's go by. Growing up, Graham's dream was to drive the interstate run.
Graham's first job in the road transport industry was at the age of 17, working at his Dad's quarry driving a seven ton 1952 Bedford flat top and a Foden tipper for A.H Gillet. At 19, Graham began working for Funsen & Weld, he didn't even have his truck license, but promised his new boss that he would get it just as soon as he was old enough. Graham fulfilled his dream of interstate transport with the highlight being the Sydney to Perth run, including putting the truck on the train at Port Augusta and getting off at Kalgoorlie. After a stint at Funsen & Weld, Graham got to drive a Flintstone truck and dog carting sandstone for his dad. Graham always appreciated the help and guidance he received from the older drivers.
Graham's 20s was an exciting time, marrying the love of his life Regina, having three sons, Troy, Nick and Travis and purchasing his first truck a tin shed Acco. After ten years and various trucks working as an owner driver, Graham decided a change was in order and commenced at Hollywood Transport before moving onto Hi-Quality.
After 14 years working for Hi-Quality Concrete, Graham moved onto Hill Bros doing local work during the day in his truck of choice a Mack, however it was not uncommon for him to cart loads to Dubbo at night. Graham stayed with Hill's for 16 years!
For the past 10 years Graham has worked for Jeffsann where his commitment, pride and work ethics are greatly appreciated. Now it is Graham passing on his knowledge and setting the standard for the younger drivers to aspire to. Trucks Graham has driven include Mack's, Internationals, Diamond T's, Benz's and Fodens. A true gentleman serving the industry for 50 years!
