Tony Wallace

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2015.

Tony Wallace was born on the 16th September 1965 at Croydon, Victoria. At the very young age of four years he would on occasions accompany his father Frank on an interstate trip, sleeping in the footwell, or on the seat, as there was no sleeper box's back then.

Tony started a diesel mechanic apprenticeship in Dandenong at Eastern Mack Trucks after obtaining his intermediate certificate at Lilydale Technical School in 1981. Before leaving school Tony helped his father with servicing and washing the trucks, learning the basics of running transports.

In 1984 the family moved their business to Swan Hill, Wallace Transport Trucks were running to Mildura from Melbourne with refrigerated products, and Swan Hill was central for this. Tony followed a few months later and obtained a job working for Lake Boga Transport, learning the ropes in general cartage.

His father Frank bought more trucks, and needing more drivers Tony left Lake Boga and drove an N10 Volvo with fridge van on local Melbourne work and country Victoria. He then drove a T Line 2670 1982 model with fridge van carting hanging meat from Swan Hill to Adelaide and Brisbane. Returning loads were market from Brisbane. A Louisville was added to the fleet to carry Target to Coffs Harbor and Brisbane which Tony worked on.

In 1991 Tony returned to Melbourne, and after marrying Jenny, a Melbourne girl, has worked for various transport companies. In the last few years he has worked for Maxwell's and Velex Transport Company doing local and some country deliveries.

Tony turns 50 in September and will have been in and contributed to the Transport Industry for 30 years plus. He is the third generation in transport, following his father Frank and Grandfather Fred Wallace.
