Bruce and Frank Burt

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at ReUnion 2005.

Frank Jnr spent all the time he could around his father's trucking business until going to Brisbane to serve an apprenticeship in fitting and turning with Mars Machine Tools, after which time he served in the air force until the end of the war.

When Frank returned to the family business after being discharged, he turned his hand to whatever was needed. Frank was very much a  hands-on person and renown for his ability to get things done and keep the fleet moving. With the passing of Frank Snr in 1956 Frank Jnr took over as manager until he passed away in 1996.

Likewise, Frank Jnr's son, Bruce Burt also grew up around the transport industry and followed in his father's footsteps. Bruce served an apprenticeship as a motor mechanic and then spent seven years working around Australia in the machine industry.  In 1976 he returned to work in the family business and concentrated mainly on the maintenance of the fleet and driving when necessary. Bruce is the current manager of Burt's Transport having taken over when Frank Jnr passed away. He continues the tradition of being a hands-on manager.

What is the secret to the ongoing success of the business? Bruce says it's because the business is based on service and reliability and places great value on good staff. Burt's Transport hopes to maintain its fleet of 14 trucks and is working towards becoming more cost efficient to compete in today's more competitive market.
