Ross Brims known as buster to his friends Born 22/5/1951 in Murwillumbah

The Brims family involvement in transport started out with his grandfather with a bullock team hauling timber & log, then his father carting bananas. Ross drove his first truck which was a Chevy Blitz at the age of 15.

The family business then moved onto earthmoving, purchasing their first bulldozer a D6C in 1974 in which he still owns. Ross continued to drive trucks and earthmoving equipment with his father and brothers until his father retired in 1977. Ross and his two brothers continued to grow the transport fleet.

In 1991 Ross decided to branch out on his own and started Ross Brims Bulk Transport with his late wife Gail. To this day the company is still running tipper trucks and interstate trucks with over 45 trucks on the road. There are two sites one in Yatala and one in Chinderah which has a workshop for servicing. Employing around 60 staff, including his daughter and now grandsons being third and fourth generation.

Ross purchased his 50th truck from Brown & Hurly in 2014 having it delivered on his birthday which contributes to one of his highlights within his working career. Another highlight for Ross was paying cash for a truck in 2017, something he has always wanted to do. He was just unable to get that amount of cash out (not like the good old days) and was disappointed he had to give a bank cheque instead!

Ross has seen a lot of changes since his first truck driven in 1966 to the modern Kenworth trucks that he has purchased today, and still gets excited with every new truck delivery.

Being in the business for over 50 years driving and in management Ross has decided to retire this year. He is getting frustrated with red tape and Government rules he wants to spend time on his cattle & cane farms, his other passion.

Coming from the old school and hard old days of trucking he enjoys listening to today's drivers complaining about how hard their job is or what is wrong with the trucks. Ross walks away saying they have no idea with a grin.
