John Corrigan

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at ReUnion 2010.

John Corrigan grew up on a farm where his house was 100 metres from the Hume Highway at Mullengandra which is 56 kilometres from Albury NSW. When he was a young boy he used to lie in bed and listen to all the old trucks change gears as they went past his house.
His father was a bush mechanic and he would often fix trucks which broke down near his house. This is where his love of trucks began.  John used to help his Dad load bagged grain and bulk grain into flat top trailers when the trucks came to the farm.

John started his working life as a shearer. In 1972 he went to Western Australia as a shearer and decided to do some casual work driving trucks around the Esperance area carting stock, grain, and super.

John came back to Albury and bought his first truck and trailer. The truck was a second hand V8 Petrol 760 Dodge. He transported grain from the Albury area to Melbourne and brought back building materials. John gradually bought more trucks over the years. He had to employ drivers as he had a shuttle run with Ansett.

When the Ansett run had finished he transported Ford parts from Geelong to Brisbane. By this time he had ten trucks. He had stock crates and carted stock throughout the Riverina area and Victoria. He gave the stock carting away and started building up to general freight. He started using B-doubles in 1992. He delivered freight from the Albury area to Brisbane. Return loads from Brisbane were Pipes, Farm Machinery, Wool and Recyclable bottles which were picked up from various locations around the Brisbane area and delivered throughout Southern Queensland and country NSW into the Riverina and North East Victoria.

John is still operating trucks.
