Paul & Kaye Keen

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2004.
Paul started driving trucks in 1961. From then on his life was literally consumed by his love of them. He was one of the pioneers that helped cart sand goods to set up the naval stacking base for the USA at Exmouth in the Gulf of Western Australia.
He also sub-contracted to the main roads departments for some time helping build roads throughout Western Australia. Kaye and her firstborn, David, lived in tents and caravans while her husband Paul worked in these remote locations. As the saying goes, Behind every man there is a great woman, and Kaye Keen is certainly that. Paul worked for several years carting steel, concrete and various other goods to establish such towns as Paraburdoo, Port Hedland, Moles and Shark Bay, just to name a few. They had several setbacks including losing trucks in flash floods and being bogged to the axle in mud or choked with sand. All these things did not deter Paul. As a truckie he knows this is what trucking is all about.Paul's great love is for his prized Atkinson which was one of the first B-double configurations to go from Western Australia to Victoria on federal plates. Paul also operated for a time in the goldfields delivering general, perishable and frozen goods to Kalgoorlie, Leonora and Laverton. You name it, Paul carted it. It was during this time that Paul first became interested in driver education and decided he had something to offer in the way of training young truck drivers to be professional and safe operators. They started Keen Bros Truck Diver Training School in Perth. It is the largest truck driver training school in WA and is a registered training organisation for the Western Australian Government. They have branches in Maddinton, Malaga and Bunbury. Keen Bros also trains pilots and escorts for oversized loads, forklifts and the blue-card (F1 OH&S). As well as Paul and Kaye, two of their four sons are employed in running the business.
