Grahame Killick

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2007.

Grahame Killick (Bunchy) began his love affair with trucks at 14, after spending time as a bowser attendant near where Ipec has a depot in Croydon, NSW. Grahame obtained his operator's licence in Adelaide at 16 and began working for Ipec in 1956 before moving on to Brambles for another couple of years.
Grahame worked for Midlands/Blakistons for eight years. His manager there was Maurie Joseph who developed a great respect for Grahame both personally and professionally. The feelings were totally reciprocated by Grahame as they remain friends to this day.
When Midlands/Blakistons sold their interstate interests, Grahame worked one year for Frank Scarcella driving a B-model Mack which he operated totally by himself, organising his own loading, ex Sydney to Adelaide and to Brisbane. In 1967 Grahame drove for Express Freight on a 2-up shuttle as crew captain, driving Kenworth trucks for seven years. In 1984 Maurie Joseph asked Grahame to join him at NB Love Transport at Ensfield, Sydney. Maurie was trying to cost-cut by getting semis into poultry farms instead of many small deliveries.
When Maurie decided to be one of two companies to start trials for the first B-double combination vehicles in NSW he seconded Grahame solely for his best driver. The tasks included an exhaustive host of firsts over the six months of trails. Grahame impressed departmental and government bodies with his abilities during these trials and, subsequently, legalisation came in June 1986. Grahame then operated the B-double from Sydney to Canberra and Newcastle transporting flour.
When NB Love formed his own interstate transport company, Specialised Fleet Services, to deliver flour to Brisbane, Grahame went on to operate a Freightliner tanker for a few years.
