Henry (Harry) Logan

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2010.

n 2010. In 1969 Harry joined the Merchant Navy but within a month was on leave on his first driving for H Crane & Sons of Footscray carrying flour in an old Trans-Trader 5 ton tray working his way up to a Thames single drive semi with a single axle 28½ ft trailer with vacuum brakes.
In 1969 he married Gloria and left the Navy for good. The next year he worked part-time for Crane carting wool and flour and with Robbie Dimmataine at Melbourne Market running bananas from Dynon Rail in an AB150 Inter.
When Robbie was in a good mood he would let Harry, who had taught himself to drive, take the new 5-ton, C-1800 International. He worked for F H Stevens and Charmers (Footscray and Yarraville) driving a bogie-drive C-1800 carting grain working his way up to a 1419 Benz. After moving to Bendigo in 1971 he went driving for Trevor Matthews Transport but had to work in the yard for three months before being allowed on the road. Harry started in a 5-ton Dodge tray and worked his way up to single-drive ACCO carting air conditioning duct to Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and everywhere in between over the next 20 years.
On several occasions he had short stints with RW James, local and interstate, carting general on the old Hume Highway and Mainhall Transcontinental Freezers (Frank Main) running Sydney, Brisbane and Port Augusta. After Matthew sold out Harry spent a year with Wool Trans on the Brisbane run, then went to Moronis Transport, Bendigo where he spent eight years running Sydney to Melbourne doing multi-pickups and drop-offs. Moroni closed the doors in 2004 so Harry started in a 950 Kenworth for RK Monti carting general. Rod Monti asked him to go to B-double carting frozen goods. For the last four years he has been towing a B-double for Toll on a K-mart run Sydney to Melbourne three times one week and two the next.
Long hours, six days a week, has been hard on him and his family during his yearly 230,000kms travelled, all the while putting customers first.
As a driver he has respect for all his employers, customers and family and in turn was respected  by all who knew him.
