Tom & Peter Lindsay

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2003.
Lindsay Bros. Transport was established in March 1953 by Tom and the late Peter, as a Coffs Harbour based business.  Two second-hand table top trucks were used to carry local fruit and vegetables to the railway for transportation to the Sydney markets.  This was supplemented by carting petrol and oil and fuel products.
By 1970 the Lindsay Bros. Transport fleet had expanded to comprise 20 Mack trucks and 23 semi-trailers, with transport operations having extended to Queensland over the prior ten years.  The introduction of refrigerated trailers into Australia in the 1970s presented Lindsay Bros. Transport with an opportunity to enhance its traditional customer service and to embark on a new growth phase.Lindsay Bros. Transport today has one of Australia's largest refrigerated transport fleets.  The ongoing growth of the Company's refrigerated operations has seen supply arrangements with major food groups such as Simplot and Cadbury Schweppes, and the opening up of terminals in Sydney and Melbourne to service their customers.Lindsay Bros. Transport has developed its own internal distribution fleet, which combined with refrigerated warehousing, maintains a cold chain throughout the delivery life-cycle of the product.  The Lindsay Bros. Transport fleet, now a public company called Lindsay Australia, has expanded to over 600 vehicles and trailers (including nearly 200 prime-movers) carrying in excess of 700,000 tonnes of freight over 35 million kilometres per annum and operates out of 20 freight terminals. The terminals are strategically located to maximize loading and to complement the seasonal fluctuations in their various and diverse operations.  Lindsay Bros. Transport today is considered to be a market leader in the transportation of fresh produce and many members of the family are still involved.Peter passed away in 1998 and Tom is enjoying his retirement travelling Australia.
