Jim Lucas
Like many other drivers of the era, he began driving trucks before he had a license. Jim was just 16 when he drove the family's International AB 180 tabletop carting wheat to the Warialda Rail silos.
Over his 53 continuous years of service to the industry he has carted just about every type of freight and has driven many makes of trucks; some faster than others, some better than others with his all-time favourite being a yellow and white T650 Kenworth which was always reliable.
During the 1970's and 1980's Jim hauled long distances across most states of Australia. In recent years Jim has focused mainly on livestock and has moved a lot of cattle around northwest NSW and southern QLD to sale yards, feedlots and abattoirs.
He has always been an owner operator and with his wife Anna, has run Lucas Transport for 50 years at Warialda New South Wales and now finds that he is carrying for the third generation of families that he dealt with when he first started driving trucks as a teenager.
