Kerry Mannix

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2007.

Kerry Jean Mannix has been involved in the transport industry since the mid 70s. Kerry drove trucks with her husband until he passed away in 1986. She then became involved in the piloting of over-size loads throughout Australia.
She held the position of secretary to the Pilot Drivers Association of NSW Inc. for many years and was well-known for always having everything prepared well in advance. Kerry also lobbied the NSW state Government relentlessly for the legalisation of CB radios.
Kerry witnessed first hand some of the many issues impacting the road transport industry and became actively involved in many organisations and causes over the years. She led committees to RTA meetings and deputations to members of Parliament, identifying and recommending the need for rest areas with facilities for transport drivers, an area for which she maintains a high profile today. Kerry has worked with the RTF, TWU and RTA on the matter of rest areas in NSW for truck drivers. Kerry has belonged to various road freight strategy groups for the betterment of the transport industry and all who work in it.
Kerry's involvement with charity work speaks for itself: in Orange it was the Truckies Ball, and at Bathurst, the Truck Show & Ball. She worked for 21 years raising funds for equipment for various hospitals in NSW. Not only was she busy with all this but she has also held positions of secretary, president, vice-president, treasurer and public officer with Convoy for Kids Sydney Inc.
For the past 18 years she has served as a volunteer for NRMA Careflight and still carried on her own business as a pilot-driver. There is much to be said for the age old adage of if you want something done ask a busy person, because Kerry, no matter how busy she gets, gets it done.
Kerry was jokingly tagged 'Madam Lash' because she would have a lash at anything big or small that was put in front of her. She is there to assist all who needed assistance without prejudice. Kerry is well-respected in the heavy vehicle industry and is always willing to help anyone. This includes information on travel, travel times, and the rules and regulations in the different states and territories.
She is a character in a million and deserves the GOOD things said about her.
