Geoffrey Mayer

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2010.

The year 2010 marks 45 years in the transport industry for Geoffrey Mayer. Working on the docks at Ansett Freight Express, Kwikasair and Alltrans, loading trucks piqued the then 14 year olds interest.
By the age of 19 he had his licence and was ready to make his debut in driving trucks. Geoff started driving interstate for his father in an ERF running Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide subbing mostly for Cec Thompson Transport and Lanes Transport.
He then drove for Brown & Mitchell and KL McKenzie, driving a 660 Dodge with a single axle trailer running Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. Layton Consolidation Industries then employed Geoff to drive Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, driving a 1418 Mercedes. Next, Geoff  drove for Fast Freight for a total of eight years, in between driving a fuel tanker for Bruce Panucci in the Riverina district. He also drove for a number of small companies. Geoff drove a Louisville for Bob Duncan, subbing for Shannon Express then Barlow Overnight Express before working for Peter Amoroso driving Melbourne to Sydney. He then worked for John Gugala, carting overnight freight for Fleet Express running Melbourne to Sydney before subbing for Intermodal.
In 1985 Geoff moved to Brisbane with his children Lisa and Mark and drove their tipper locally for Karraman Bros for 12 months. He then took up a position at FH Transport working local, intrastate and interstate for 18 months. FH underwent a number of changes; however Geoff was effectively employed by FH for a total of 13 years. Geoff then drove fuel tankers, running for Bruce Baker, subbing for Millers.
