Geoffrey Morton

Geoffrey Morton, better known to everyone as Tex was born on the 12th July 1948 in Bingara, New South Wales. He is married to Narelle and has three children, Jodie and twins Jason and Jamie.

Geoff started driving old Ford trucks for the local sawmill when he was 20, later driving a V8 International table top truck, delivering fuel around Bingara and surrounding district for a local man. Whilst still delivering fuel, Geoff purchased his first truck, an AA160 International.

As the years progressed, Geoff bought a table top Acco and a bogey drive Acco, then a 1418 Mercedes Benz. He bought an identical truck that his brother and other friends would drive when his work became too great for one truck.

As his work load increased and he gained permanent contracts, Geoff updated his trucks purchased a 1923 Benz. He then bought newer trucks and the Mack took his fancy. Over the years Geoff has had many Macks which included two R Models, Flintstones cabover F Model and Superliners.

Since becoming an owner driver some 47 years ago, Geoff contracted a weekly grocery run out of Sydney to Manilla, Barraba, Bingara and Warialda in rural New South Wales. Up until the local sawmill closed he carted to all over New South Wales, and loaded bagged cement from Kandos. Other loads over the years included wool, grain, general freight, machinery, buildings, hay and cotton modules.

Geoff has driven an array of combinations including B-doubles and road trains throughout New South Wales and interstate. Geoff's current pride and joy is a restored 1988 V8 Mack Superliner painted mercury grey, with a 500 hp motor a 18 speed Road Ranger gearbox and the number plate DOG. He also owns a 1981 white and red Superliner, 350 hp with a 12 speed Mack and a Hiab crane fitted. With his self widening step deck trailer, water tanker and aluminium tipper, Geoff is kept busy carting hay, water, large machinery and grain.
