Ted Morrison

Inducted into the Shell Rimula Wall of Fame at Reunion 2010.

Ted Morrison was born in 1950 in Queanbeyan, one of six surviving children.  He grew up on  where  lucerne and sheep were farmed. This is where Ted learnt to drive.

Ted was educated at St Edmonds and also did a few years at St Lawrence boarding school in Gaylong. Ted started an apprenticeship as a painter at Charlie Neaves Painting and Decorating before getting his truck licence. Ted's first truck driving job was delivering soft drinks for Cottees throughout Queanbeyan, Canberra, Yass and surrounding district.

At age 18 Ted moved to Darwin and started working for North Australian Haulage (N.A.H). His first roadtrain was a White 4000. Ted stayed in Darwin for around 4 years. In the early 70s Ted moved back to Queanbeyan where he met his future wife, Dorothea. Ted drove for Mayne Nickless, driving interstate in a White 9000. In 1977 Ted and Dorothea were married. They bought a Mitsubishi van and started sub contracting as a courier for Wards Air Express as well as still driving some interstate. In January 1985 Ted's wife Dorothea passed away leaving Ted to raise their two young children, David who was three and Sharon who was 18 months at the time. This meant Ted had to sell his caravan and stop driving interstate for a few years.

In the late 80s Ted moved to Nanango Queensland and worked for the Nanango Brick Works for two years before moving to Thornlands, Brisbane, working for the Redlands Shire Council where he operated heavy machinery for the next nine years. Ted also drove for McCaffertys, Greyhound and Pioneer as a coach captain on weekends. In the mid 1990s Ted returned to Nanango where he still drove for McCaffertys in Toowoomba, mostly running to Melbourne and return. In 1999 Ted started working for Shell Fuels in Kingaroy. He drove a Freightliner or a Volvo.
